Confirmed launch platforms

Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's official game page lists only these two platforms, and Rockstar's own marketing states the game "plays best on PlayStation 5" — a performance claim, not an exclusivity claim, since Xbox Series X|S is equally confirmed.

No last-generation version

There is no PS4 or Xbox One version of Grand Theft Auto VI. Neither console appears anywhere on Rockstar's official platform listing, and Sony's own PlayStation FAQ confirms the game is playable on PlayStation 5 only — ruling out a PS4 release. This lines up with what the Extended Look gameplay preview shows: crowd density, traffic simulation and lighting built around current-generation hardware.

What about PC?

As of this writing, Rockstar has not announced a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI — no release window, no release date, and no confirmation a PC version is even in development. Anything claiming a specific GTA VI PC release date is not sourced to Rockstar and should be treated as unconfirmed.

For context only: Grand Theft Auto V arrived on PC about 18 months after its console debut, and Red Dead Redemption 2 followed its console launch by roughly 13 months. That's a real pattern in Rockstar's recent history — reported by multiple outlets — but it is not an official promise, and this article will not turn it into a predicted date.

This article will be updated the moment Rockstar makes any official PC announcement. Last verified: September 21, 2026.
