Chess 3D: Battle Arena

Every rule. Every battle.

Chess 3D: Battle Arena

Full-rules chess on a 3D fortress board: play the computer at four levels, a friend on the same device, or a speed game on the clock. Undo and move history included.

About the Game

Chess 3D: Battle Arena is standard chess on a 3D fortress board. Every rule is implemented: check, checkmate and stalemate, castling, en passant, promotion, and draws by the fifty-move rule, threefold repetition and insufficient material. The move generator is verified against standard perft move counts. Play against the computer at four levels — Squire, Knight, Warlord and Grandmaster. The computer searches ahead with an alpha-beta search and evaluates material and piece positions; the levels differ by search depth and thinking time, and only the two easiest levels add small deliberate imperfections. It thinks in the background, so the board stays responsive. Choose White, Black or a random side, take back moves, and follow the move history in standard notation. Two players can share one device, and Speed chess adds clocks of 3 minutes plus 2 seconds, 5 minutes or 10 minutes. Captures play short animations. Drag to turn the board, or flip it.

How to Play

Choose Versus computer, Speed chess or Two players, set the level, your side and the clock on the title screen, and press Play. Click or tap a piece to see its legal moves, then click a highlighted square to move. Castle by moving the king two squares; en passant and promotion work as in standard chess, and you choose the promotion piece. Win by checkmate. Stalemate, threefold repetition, the fifty-move rule and insufficient material are draws. Press U to undo a move, F to flip the board, and drag to look around.
