Devil Steps
One Step Too Far.
Devil Steps
A trap platformer — reach the portal, learn every trap, retry instantly.
About the Game
Devil Steps is a short, handcrafted trap platformer across 12 stages. Every level looks simple at first — then a floor gives way, a spike rises, a laser sweeps a corridor, or a block drops from the ceiling. Every trap is fair and learnable: die once, see what happened, and you're back on your feet in an instant.
How to Play
Move with A/D or the Arrow keys and jump with Space, W or Arrow Up (or the on-screen buttons on touch devices) to reach the glowing portal at the end of each of the 12 levels. Each level starts simple, then introduces a new trap — a floor tile that collapses after you step on it, a spike that rises as you approach, a platform that moves, a block that drops from the ceiling, a fake platform that gives way instantly, a crumbling stepping-stone bridge, a zone that reverses your controls, or a sweeping laser gate. Touching a trap or falling into a pit ends the attempt, but the level restarts in an instant — press R anytime to reset it yourself. Reach the portal to unlock the next level; your furthest level is saved on this device.

Gameplay Tips
- The first time you hit a trap is information, not a failure — the instant restart means the real cost of learning it is a couple of seconds.
- Traps with a visible warning (a rising spike, a shaking ceiling block, a wobbling floor tile) are telling you exactly when they'll turn deadly — watch for the tell before you commit to the timing.
- A tile that looks identical to normal ground but sits in an odd spot is worth a cautious first step rather than a running jump onto it.
- Moving platforms and lasers repeat the same cycle every time — watch one full loop before you commit to crossing.
