Nova Swarm

About the Game

Nova Swarm is a lightweight top-down space shooter. Your ship fires automatically at the nearest enemy — your only job is steering it through an escalating swarm of drifters, chasers, zigzaggers and heavy chargers closing in from every side. Grab purple pickups for a temporary rapid-fire boost.

How to Play

Steer with the Arrow keys or WASD (or the on-screen virtual joystick on touch devices) — your ship auto-fires at the nearest enemy, so there's nothing else to aim or press. Enemies spawn from every edge of the screen and close in: blue drifters fly straight at where you were when they spawned, red chasers continuously home in on you, green zigzaggers weave as they approach, and orange chargers are slow to appear but fast and tough once they do. Touching an enemy costs you health and briefly makes you invulnerable; running out of health ends the run. Purple diamond pickups drop occasionally and grant a few seconds of rapid fire. Your high score is saved on this device.

Gameplay Tips

• •Contact with an enemy destroys it too and gives you a brief window of invulnerability — in a real pinch, that's an emergency escape, not just a loss.
• •Chasers and chargers continuously adjust course toward you, so pure straight-line running won't lose them — use tighter turns instead.
• •Since aiming is automatic, positioning is your whole skill set — staying near open space rather than a corner keeps more escape routes available.
