Brake late. Drift wide. Boost out.
Steer, brake, drift and boost around 50 arcade circuits — chase gold medals and race your own ghost.
Velocity Circuit is an original top-down arcade racing game with 50 circuits in five chapters, set across city streets, desert highways, mountain passes, coastal roads, neon night tracks, industrial yards, snowy forests, red canyons and a futuristic grid. Your car accelerates on its own: you steer, brake for the bends and drift — brake while turning hard at speed — to swing the nose round and charge a boost that fires when the drift ends. Boost pads launch you down the straights, oil slicks steal your grip, cones cost speed and walled city and industrial circuits punish a lazy line. Five original cars, from the nimble Sprout GT to the Zenith Prime, get faster chapter by chapter. Each race counts laps through checkpoints, shows your lap and best-lap times, and awards bronze, silver or gold against medal times; beat bronze to unlock the next track. Your fastest run on each circuit is saved in your browser and comes back as a ghost car to race against. Every track was driven to the finish by a bot with a human reaction delay under three different timing patterns, and the medal times are set from its slowest run.
After the countdown your car accelerates by itself. Hold the left or right side of the screen, the arrow buttons or the arrow keys to steer. Hold Brake (or Space, Down or S) to slow down before a tight bend. Brake while steering hard at speed and the car drifts: the nose swings round and a meter fills; hold the drift for a moment and you get a boost when you let go. Drive over blue boost pads for extra speed, avoid oil slicks (they take away your grip) and cones (they slow you down), and stay on the road — the verge is slow and walls scrape off speed. Pass the checkpoints in order and cross the line to complete each lap. Finish all laps within the bronze time to unlock the next track; silver and gold need faster times. Your best run on each track is saved as a ghost car.
