Dodge. Counter. Knockout.
Arcade boxing in 50 bouts — read the wind-up, dodge or block, and counter in the opening.
Punch Arena is an original arcade boxing game with 50 bouts in five chapters, seen from inside the ring. Every opponent attack starts with a wind-up: the glove pulls back and glows, an arrow shows which side it comes from, and a ring closes until it lands. Hooks must be dodged the right way, uppercuts go straight through a block, and jabs can be blocked or slipped. After every swing the opponent is open — punch then for a counter worth more damage. Tap to jab, hold and release for a slower, harder power punch that staggers, and watch your stamina. Bouts ask for knockouts, counters, dodges, survival until the bell or a flawless fight, against opponents who keep their guard up, throw combos and feints, and wind up faster each chapter. It is stylised, competitive and non-graphic: hits show as flashes and stars, never injuries. Every bout was won by a sparring bot that only reacts a quarter of a second after each wind-up begins.
Your gloves are at the bottom of the screen and your opponent stands in front of you. Tap the ring or the Punch button to jab; hold and release for a power punch, which is slower but hits much harder and staggers. When the opponent winds up, a glove glows and a ring closes around an arrow showing where the punch comes from. A hook from your left is dodged by moving right, and one from your right by moving left — swipe, use the arrow buttons or the arrow keys. Uppercuts can't be blocked, so dodge them either way; jabs can be blocked by holding Block or slipped. Right after each attack the opponent is open: punches then count as counters and do extra damage. Punches and dodges use stamina, which refills when you rest. Each bout shows its goal — a knockout, a number of counters or dodges, surviving until the bell, or a flawless fight — and the round timer.
