About the Game

Neon Circuit is an original 3D arcade racing game set on a 1.6 km elevated circuit above a futuristic night city. You drive the Volt Arrow, an electric-blue prototype racer, over two laps: long straights under light arches, a curbed S-turn, a cable-stayed bridge, a 130 m LED tunnel, a boost section, a ramp that jumps a gap in the road, and an obstacle slalom before the line. Brake while steering hard at speed to drift: the car swings round and fills your boost meter, and a long drift pays out a burst of speed when it ends. Run over boost pads, fire the boost on the straights, and carry enough speed up the ramp to clear the gap; roll in too slowly and you are put back at your last checkpoint. Walls scrub speed and barricades cost half of it. Each race shows your lap times and awards a gold, silver or bronze medal against the medal times; your best race and best lap are saved in your browser. The medal times were set from an autopilot that finished the race while reacting 200 ms late with imprecise steering. The car, track and city are modelled in Blender from the same track definition the physics drives on, and drawn in real time with WebGL. How to Play

Press Start race and wait for the countdown. Hold W or the up arrow to accelerate, steer with A and D or the left and right arrows, and hold S or the down arrow to brake. Braking while you steer hard at speed starts a drift: the car swings round and your boost meter fills, and a long drift ends with a burst of speed. When the meter shows Boost ready, press Space or Shift to boost. Blue pads on the road boost you for free. Hit the ramp fast to jump the gap in the road; if you go in too slowly you are reset to your last checkpoint. Weave through the barricades in the slalom before the finish. Two laps make a race; finish under the medal times for bronze, silver or gold. On a touch screen the car accelerates by itself: hold the arrow buttons to steer and use Brake and Boost on the right. Press R to reset to the last checkpoint and Esc to pause.

Gameplay Tips
