Pour. Stack. Sort.
Pour glowing plasma between vials until every colour has its own — 50 handcrafted sorting puzzles.
Color Sort Lab is an original sorting puzzle with 50 handcrafted experiments. Glowing plasma sits in layers inside glass vials on a lab bench; tap one vial and then another to pour, and sort every colour into a vial of its own. A pour moves the whole top layer of one colour onto a vial whose top matches, or into an empty one, as far as it fits. Five chapters add the lab's own equipment: Basics teaches pouring and stacking; Big Batches brings more colours, taller vials and the pipette rule, where every pour moves a single drop; Restricted adds locked vials that open once a vial of their colour is complete, and frozen vials that thaw after a number of pours; Exotic introduces prism units that match any colour and split vials whose sealed lower chamber only lifts into place when the top is empty; and Master combines everything with labelled vials that must finish holding their colour, pour limits and a final synthesis. Every puzzle's par is the fewest pours possible, proven by an exhaustive search of the game's own rules.
Tap a vial to pick it up, then tap another vial to pour into it. The whole top layer of one colour pours at once, as much as fits, and only onto a vial whose top layer is the same colour, or into an empty vial. A puzzle is solved when every vial is either empty or full of a single colour. As the lab grows you'll meet the pipette rule, where each pour moves just one drop; locked vials with a coloured padlock, which open as soon as a vial of that colour is completed; frozen vials that thaw after the number of pours shown on the ice; split vials with a sealed lower chamber that lifts into place once the top chamber is empty; prism units that count as any colour; and labelled vials that must end up holding the colour on their tag. Undo steps back one pour, and Restart resets the puzzle. Finishing in the puzzle's par without using undo earns three stars.
What is Color Sort Lab?
Color Sort Lab is a free sorting puzzle on ZOQSY. You pour layers of glowing plasma between glass vials until each vial holds a single colour.
How many puzzles are there?
50 handcrafted puzzles in five chapters, from a three-pour tutorial to the final Master Synthesis.
Which pours are allowed?
You can pour the top colour of one vial onto a vial whose top is the same colour, or into an empty vial, as long as there's room. All of the top colour moves at once, unless the pipette rule is on.
What are locked and frozen vials?
A locked vial can't be used until a vial of its padlock colour is completed. A frozen vial thaws after the number of pours shown on its ice.
How do I get three stars?
Solve the puzzle in its par — the fewest pours possible, proven by the game's verifier — without using undo. Within a quarter over par still earns two stars.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes — tap vials to pick up and pour. It also plays with a mouse or keyboard.
Is Color Sort Lab free?
Yes — free in your browser with no download or account. Stars and best results are saved locally in your browser.
